15-11-18 09:26 I woke up very early today, watched TV for a while, and here I am! As expected, the news fronting the television, radio, newspaper, social media here is the ongoing APEC Summit in Manila. I'm home the whole week, except last Monday when I still held classes. Tuesday until Friday classes have been suspended at the National Capital Region where Manila is the key city. There's a lot of hullaballoo here because too much attention is being given to our guests - economic leaders (but they are really political leaders - presidents, vice, ministers, ambassadors, etc.) I'saw your president land at the airport yesterday. I didn't know that your president is a woman! So she's President Park Geun-hye, a seemingly nice person and a real lady. Seriously, without having seen her I wouldn't know that she's a woman. I really would not know whether a Korean is a male or female if i just look at the name. Although of course some names have been familiar, but I rarely pay attention to names and would easily forget. Now I remember Moon Geung, a Korean actress. Hahaha. Anyway, I think some foreigners make the Philippines a laughing stock. The New York Times even questioned the disappearance of the Manila beggars and street children, maybe implying some hypocrisy in some government decisions. Really, it has become an embarrassment when nations show disrespect towards Filipinos.
